C is for Colour Blocking

Colour blocking, the art of pairing together bold opposites, into bright, exaggerated blocks of colour.
This fashion trend took its height of popularity in the 60's and 80's and has made yet another comeback in recent seasons.
Whilst this isn't the easiest trend to pull off, needing a keen eye for detail and precision, it is super effective when done well.

There are two main colour schemes you can follow when colour blocking, each following the colour wheel below:

- The first, using complementary colours, that is those that are opposite each other on the colour wheel, such as red and green. Whilst generally these colours may clash, this is sort of the general idea of colour blocking and is used to create an effective outfit.
- The second, is analogous colouring, this is the pairing together of like colours, those which are nearest each other on the colour wheel. An example of analogous colouring should be an outfit including light blue, green and light green hues. Using this colour scheme will create a harmonious outfit that is pleasing to the eye.
- Colour blocking can also be done using only one colour to create the entire outfit. This is just as effective as the colour schemes discussed above.
